Spirit Then & Now
SPIRIT THEN
Throughout its history, Xaverian has engendered “spirit” into its faculty and students in various imaginative ways. In the early 1960’s, it was customary to hold full school pep rallies in the gym on days of basketball games with local rivals such as Nazareth or Bishop Ford. Led by SAC (Student Activities Council) and the acrobatics of the Tumbling Team, school cheers and chants were taught and rehearsed.
In the late 1980s, the notion of a formalized “Spirit Week” was borrowed from partner XBSS school, Saint. Xavier in Louisville, KY. Activities designed to shake up the monotony of the year featured such events as Fine Arts Assemblies, student/teacher volleyball, trivia and jellybean count contests, Hat Day, Western Day, 50s Day in which pomp hairdos ruled and cafeteria prices were rolled back to 1957, and the ever popular Bermuda Day when beachwear was sported in March.

Xaverian
Established in 1957, Xaverian is one of thirteen schools nationwide sponsored by the Xaverian Brothers.
